QLEVER+ : Empowering Marginalized Youth in Central Asia to Resist Hate Speech and Propaganda through Educational Gaming

Project Activities

The QLEVER+ project aims to promote critical thinking and to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable youth in Central Asia to misinformation, propaganda, violent radicalism and hate speech online, as well as strengthen the capacities of the local media to provide quality content to their audiences.

Central to this goal is the QLEVER online platform, which offers interactive educational games that engage young people through a reward-based system. The aim of this incentive system is to attract young marginalised people who might not otherwise engage with educational material, enabling them to access content in an engaging and entertaining way. Through this variety of games, key themes are explored such as propaganda, hate speech, corruption, image manipulation, as well as misinformation and misconceptions on subjects such as gender equality and medicine. The aim is to build resilience to online hate messages and extremist propaganda, while developing critical thinking and media and information literacy skills.

In parallel, the project supports independent media and civil society initiatives focused on media literacy and combating disinformation through a series of subgranting efforts.
